DONOR COW PROGRAM

Registered Black Herefords and Registered Black Angus CATTLE

Only our best genetics become a part of our Donor Cow Program. We select our animals using many different categories. Animals that excel in a minimum of 8 of our 10 categories will be selected: Fertility, Docility, Udders and Tits, Growth and Feed Efficiency, Longevity, Milk, Phenotype, Birth Weight, Frame Score, and Fleshing Ability.

Fancy is one of my favorites! They just don't come any more docile. She has so much to offer in a genetic package, though she is not traditional Black Hereford marked, her offspring and flushes show traditional BH markings along with outstanding udder and tit attachment. We have been extremely impressed with her calves. A flush mating from her had a yearling weight last fall of 1203 lbs. He will be a featured lot at the 2015 Black is the Color Sale.  Some are in production here on the farm. She has proven her ability to produce calves that grow while retaining a great body score while raising calves. She was the high selling open heifer at The Iron Lake Sale in Texas in 2011.

Don't misjudge her because she is all black. Some of our best calves have been produced by her and their markings are great. She is backed with a weaning ration of 111 and a yearling of 112. Heifers from her are outstanding in every way-- growth, eye appeal, along with fertility and some of the best udder cattle that we have seen. She has proven herself many times over to be worthy of our Donor Program.

She is the newest edition to our Donor Program and in our opinion she is what a Black Hereford cow should look like. She is thick and sound though she expresses a lot of muscle. She has a feminine appearance with tons of eye appeal. She is Iron Lake breeding and backed by a powerful pedigree which includes Church Hill and 6432 one of the most influential Black Herefords at the 2012 Black Hereford Sale in Texas. Her calves are very impressive and we have already bred cows from her Flush. 110x420 (Dynasty) we named her Destiny because when first saw her we were sure that it was her Destiny to become part of our program.

We wanted a flush combination that would produce homozygous offspring. After a careful review of our homozygous females, #141 was our obvious choice. Her calves performance has been fantastic and her fertility along with her maternal traits are a breeders dream. We flushed her for the first time this fall to Black Dynasty. Wow! What a combination for a homozygous flush. All the calves will be homozygous. Her first flush from Dynasty gave us 15 #1 embryos. We are excited about the performance that we should receive from the calves when they hit the ground. If you are a breeder that wants to increase your homozygous animals, it just doesn't get any better than this combination.

Like many Black Hereford breeders we have been using Red Hereford Bull genetics to rapidly improve our Black Hereford genetics. We decided to try it by using one of our top, high percentage Black Hereford Bulls, 8622 and a flush from a premium red Hereford female. With that thought in mind the first breeder that I thought of was JM Cattle Co. They have been purchasing some of the best females and bulls available in the Red Hereford breed. We chose and bought a flush from them, a Revolution Daughter that is as good as they come. Her eye appeal is unmatched and her performance data is just as impressive. She ranks in the top 10% of the breed in  BW, WW, Milk,  M&G, Yearling and Ribeye. The ET calves will be purebred. We are expecting great things from this flush. We would like to thank JM Cattle Co. for this rare opportunity to be able to purchase a flush from such an impressive and powerful female.

442 is already starting to live up to what we had hoped she would be. Her flush sire is the great 9405. One of the best maternal sires to date in the Black Hereford breed. He was heavily used in the BH breed for maternal traits and low BW. 9405 was a moderate frame bull that transmitted style correctness and phenotype. He was also the flush sire of the number one selling semen bull currently in the Breed Z420ET Black Dynasty.

Her flush dam was one of our early flush days that boasts tremendous growth, along with great udders and tits. 442 is the kind of dam that we feel is going to make a special donor cow in our program. 442 has everything that one could ask for in a productive, real world cow. She is clean fronted with lots of volume, depth, and thickness. She is moderate frame and she is homozygous black. That gives us the opportunity to flush her to several red bulls and guarantees that we will retain black calves. Her first flush mating to the ABS bull revved up AHA # 43386234 produced 12 number one quality embryos.

Those have sold out quickly for this season and we are taking orders for the 2017 season. This is a power packed dam that is going to have significant impact in the advancement of American Black Hereford genetics. This donor offers an affordable and quick formula to increase the quality of any herd very quickly. In the fall of 2016 we will be selling the right to flush her to the bull of your choice. We will also be flushing her ourselves for some embryo packages that will be available to the public.
